Lab members’ talks at the 18th Polish Sociological Congress

On September 14-17, 2022, the 18th Polish Sociological Congress was held in Warsaw. This year’s tagline was: “Society of the Future. Recompositions”. More information about the convention is available on the conference website.

During the conference, lab members and associates took part in the discussions.

As part of the session entitled: “Quantitative methods: new challenges and new techniques of sociological research”, Artur Pokropek gave a talk entitled “Do you agree? Do you completely agree? Number of response categories and verification of substantial hypotheses”. He was also a co-author of two lectures given by the lab’s collaborators: Tomasz Żółtak’s talk, who presented a speech on “Possibilities and limitations of collecting paradata in web surveys”, and Marek Muszyński’s short communication entitled “Using log-data to improve web-survey data quality”. Then, Maria Flakus and Hubert Plisiecki gave a speech entitled: “Fears and hopes – war in Ukraine through the Polish eyes. Survey and social media data analyses”.

In the following days, Hubert Plisiecki also gave two talks. The first one was entitled: “Automatic search of documents in large text corpora” and was a part of the session “Contemporary trends in qualitative research: methods, techniques, research implementation process”. The second lecture, entitled “Party cohesion and survival in Central and Eastern Europe“, Hubert gave together with Viktoria Muliavka and Agnieszka Kwiatkowska as part of the session entitled” Elites and anti-elitism in contemporary Europe. Struggles over power and voice in the populist moment “.
